Funeral for Ernest A. Rodgers, 89, of Decatur will be Friday, March 19, 2010, at 3 p.m. at Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Rodgers, who died Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at River City Health & Rehabilitation, was born March 17, 1920, in Morgan County to Larkin Z. Rodgers and Fannie Bussey Rodgers. He was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, the North Alabama Traffic Club, the VFW Post 4190, and the American Legion. He was serving in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Hickam Field on December 7, 1941, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Rodgers; and his son, Richard Rodgers. Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca Rodgers Warren and her husband, John; one granddaughter, Melony Rodgers; and sister-in-law, Martha Shook and her husband, Johnny.
