Essie Walton Coker, 90, of Killen, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2013 at her residence.
Her family will receive friends Monday, April 8, 2013, from 9-11 AM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM in the Chapel with Bro. William Brewer and Bro. Bobby Walton officiating. Burial will be at Bluewater Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Mary Ellen and Ronald Raney; her son and daughter in law, Bobby and Patsy Walton; step son and wife, Stan and Marcia Coker; three granddaughters, Sutton Gurley and husband, Brian, Jerica Wood and husband, Jason, Donna Horton and husband, Jerry; seven grandsons, Dustin Raney and wife, Claire, Derrell Walton, Adam Walton and wife, Kim, Shawn Walton and wife, Brandi, Jeremy Walton and wife, Miranda, Billy Walton Jr., and wife, Lynn, Jason Walton and wife, Shae; 24 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Thompson.
Mrs. Coker was preceded in death by her parents, Ephram and Emma Leigh Newton; son, Billy Walton Sr.; husbands, Thomas E. Walton, father of her children, Roscoe Cottrell, Vaughn Coker; sister, Susie Hammond; brothers, Calvin Newton, Homer Newton, Robert Newton, Wheeler Newton, Henry Newton and George Maples Newton.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
She was a faithful member of Center Star Baptist Church. She loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. She loved her flowers and vegetable garden. She will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, big hugs and her southern hospitability.
