Funeral for Eunice Howell Campbell, 98, of Decatur will be Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Ridout''s Brown Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Lance Pate, the Rev. Roger Jenkins and Dr. Bob Christian officiating. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Campbell, who died Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Decatur Health and Rehab, was born Nov. 14, 1910, in Opelika to Britt Murphy and Pauline Griffin Murphy. Mrs. Campbell married the school bus driver at the age of 15, Mr. Bob Howell. They were married 36 years until his passing away in Valley, Ala. In 1956, she came to Decatur and worked for Grabers, then retired from Sears at the age of 65. Then she worked for Rogers Department Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Decatur, where she taught Sunday school and was very active in many of the programs at the church. She will be remem>bered for her cooking and the goodies that she shared with others. She was pre>ceded in death by her husband, Mr. Lee Campbell, and a son, Bobby Howell. Survivors include one daughter, Ann DeMoss Christian and husband, Bob, of Decatur; stepson, Bob Campbell and wife, Opal, of Decatur; six grandchildren, Coleman DeMoss and wife, Debbie, of Atlanta, Bobby DeMoss of Bentonville, Ark., Nancy DeMoss Moon and husband, Steve, of Tallahassee, Fla., Susan DeMoss Holt and husband, Daryl, of Gallatin, Tenn., Robin White and husband, General John White, of Lanett, and Candy Beck of Pensacola, Fla.; 11 great-grandchildren, Lance Pate and wife, Jill, of Trussville, Adam Pate of Tallahassee, Nick DeMoss of Bentonville, Nicole DeMoss of Atlanta, Aaron DeMoss of New York City, Bryant Holt and Peyton Holt, both of Gallatin, Emily White of Del Rio, Texas, Abbie White of Lanett, and David Beck and Mandy Mills, both of Valley; three great-great-grandchildren, Max and Jack Pate, and Tyler White; five step-grandchildren, Mike Campbell and wife, Melissa, Michelle Collins and husband, Butch, Doug Moon and wife, Tricia, Merry Sutton and husband, Chris, and Robert Christian and wife, Shirley; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Ella and Carson Campbell, Tanner Collins, John and Julia Christian, Scott Sutton, and Jenna Moon. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Kirby Underwood, Mal Underwood and Joe Undewood.
