Mrs. Eva Guthrie Hendon, of Florence, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. She was 75.
The visitation will be at Elkins Funeral Home Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. William Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hendon was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed music and loved to sing at Jacks, Royal Avenue and Broadway Recreation Centers, the Senior Center at St. Florian and the Senior Center in Rogersville, with all her musician friends. She also enjoyed singing karaoke at Tourway.
She is survived by a daughter Diane Dodd and husband Keith of Madison, Alabama; a son Jerry Hanback and wife Debra of Florence; grandsons Adam Hanback and Eric Hanback and wife Elizabeth all of Florence; a sister Virginia Joiner of Florence; special friends Alfred "Doog" and Betty Sherrod; nephews, nieces and a special niece Pam Ellis.
Mrs. Hendon was preceded in death by her husband Keevel Hendon; brothers Lewis, Willard, and Dan Jr. Guthrie; sisters Frances Robertson, Nellie Wilkerson and Rosie Fulmer; a special friend Tim Sherrod.
Pallbearers will be John Berry, Ray Barger, Ernie Norton, Gayron Ingrum, Jerry McDaniel, John Finch, Linden Balentine and George Capps. Honorary bearers will be Benton Mullins and Lowell Rhoden.
