Frances E. Pettus, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, entered her eternal resting place on July 8, 2026. She was surrounded by her loved ones.
Frances was preceded in death by Elbert Norton (father), Elizabeth R. Fry (mother), Elbert Norton (brother), Sara Howard (sister), and John Myrick Jr. (son-in-law).
She is survived by her sisters Mary Summers (Johnnie), and Anna Broadfoot (Buck), her daughters Wavetta Phillips (Jack), and Chantel Jackson (Mike), grandchildren Jonathan Myrick, Chelsea Myrick Cottles (Chris), Dillon Myrick (Melanie), Dalton Craft (Max, Alex), Belia Jackson, and Roland Jackson, great-grandchildren Desira, Damian, Mia, Kinley and Freya, and many loved ones.
Frances will always be remembered for her caring and giving nature. She loved without restrictions. She was a master quilter and her creations will live on in the lives of her loved ones for generations to come.
Frances was the strong pillar upon which her family stood. That strength has been passed along her family line. We Will Survive! as she did every hardship that came her way.
Visitation will be held at Elkins East Chapel on Sunday, July 12, 2026. The family will receive friends from 11-1 followed by a graveside service at 1:30 at Butler Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Myrick, Dillon Myrick, Dalton Craft, Roland Jackson, and Chris Cottles.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
