Fred Mullins Trinity
Funeral for Fred Mullins, 76, of Trinity will be Saturday, January 15, 2011, at noon at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Bohlin officiating. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Mullins, who died Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Decatur Health & Rehabilitation, was born August 15, 1934, in Virginia. He was raised in Clintwood, Va., and entered the U.S. Air Force in 1952 and served until 1972. During his military career, he served in Korea and Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star during the Vietnam War. He attended Cedar Ridge Baptist Church. His grandson, Matthew Wesley Swearengin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen Mullins; two daughters, Jane Swearengin and husband, Larry, and Julie Blackwell and husband, Jed; one son, Ron Mullins and wife, Sandra; one brother, Jimmie Mullins; one sister, Betty Ann McGowan; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be the United States Air Force.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and son.
