Frederick Norman Stephens Jr.

Decatur

Frederick Norman Stephens Jr. was born on March 21, 1913, in Louisville, AL to Frederick Norman Stephens and Lola Daisey Baker Stephens. He died on January 19, 2013, at his residence in Decatur.

Funeral arrangements are Tuesday, January 22, 2013, with a private family burial followed by 11 a.m. visitation and noon memorial service at Central United Methodist Church, Decatur, with The Rev. Gary Formby and The Rev. Howard Fanning presiding. Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home will be directing.

Mr. Stephens graduated from Louisville High School. He attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University). He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He worked for the Federal Housing Administration in Washington, D.C. He was a Veteran of World War II. He retired from the State of Alabama after 31 years as an Examiner of Public Accountants. He lived in Decatur for the last 25 years. He was a lifelong Methodist, and was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the Builders Sunday School Class.

He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Regina Bush Stephens; his children, Sara Alice Stephens Godwin (George) of Decatur, Lucile Stephens Hoyt of Auburn, Frederick Norman Stephens III (Gloria) of Decatur; his grandchildren, Dr. George H. Godwin III (Carol), John Godwin (Amy), Susan Godwin Thompson (Chuck) all of Decatur, Dr. Norman Godwin (Mary Ann) of Auburn, Dr. Trey Hoyt (Dawn), of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Rebecca Hoyt Johnston of Auburn, Bob Hoyt (Deana) of Waycross, Georgia, Katie Stephens Hames (Chris) of Brentwood, Tennessee, Kirk Stephens (Jennifer) of Cumming, Georgia; 27 great-grandchildren; and one niece, Katherine Frost (Bill) of Lilburn, Georgia.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the choir fund at Central United Methodist Church, or a charity of your choice .
