Graveside service for Freda Cowan Morton, 88, of Decatur will be Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Decatur City Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Hoover, the Rev. Mike Thomas and the Rev. Charles Smith officiating and Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Morton, who died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at her residence, was born Oct. 21, 1919, in Lawrence County to J.C. and Gertrude Cowan. She was a member of Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church. Her husband, the Rev. Dan Morton, preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Cleve Morton of Huntsville, and Kenneth Cooper Morton and wife, Patty, of Jefferson City, Tenn.; one sister, Doris Lipscomb of Decatur; and two grandsons, Luke and David Morton. The family request memorials be made to the Point Mallard Parkway Baptist Church Building Fund.
