G. W. Bates' Obituary
G. W. Bates, 69, of Florence died Thursday, October 11, 2012, at ECM Hospital.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 14, 2012, at Elkins Funeral Home Florence from 2-4 PM. Funeral services will follow at 4 PM in the Chapel with Ronnie Marks and Gary Marks officiating. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Florence.
Mr. Bates attended Parkers'' Chapel and worked for the City of Florence.
He was preceded in death by his parents George and Pauline Bates; brothers Randy and James Bates.
Mr. Bates is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Peggy Bates; daughters Patricia Bruce (Lynn) and Amanda Michaels; sons Tommy Bates, David Bates (Judy), and Michael Bates (Katrina); sisters Mearlyn Riner, Barbara Clemons, Connie Meadows, and Brenda Marks; brothers Ed Bates, Tommy Bates, and Paul Bates; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; twenty-eight nieces and nephews; and special friend Ronnie Marks.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
