Garland C. Hall Jr. M.D., 78, of Moulton died Jan. 31, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital. He was born in Goshen on Dec. 5, 1931, to Garland C. Hall Sr. and Cora Young Hall. He was preceeded in death by his parents and son Timothy Hall.
Dr Hall graduated from Gadsden High School in 1950, received his B.S. degree from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and received his M.D. degree from Medical College of Alabama in 1959. His internship was at Carraway Methodist Hospital in Birmingham, Family Practice Residency, Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor, Maine, for two years. Surgery Resident at Carraway Methodist Hospital from 1962-1963, Military Capt. U.S. Army Medical Corp 1960-1962. He was Chief of Staff, Lawrence Medical Center, Moulton. Member of Alabama Board of Medical Examiners 1983-1996, Member Board of Censors Medical Association, State of Alabama 1983-1996, Past President of Medical Association State of Alabama, Member of Alabama Delegation to AMA 1988-2008. In 2009, he received an award for 50 years Medical Practice. Dr. Hall began practice in Moulton on June 25, 1963, to Oct. 2005 at Irwin Drive, Moulton.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Wilson Hall, and five children, Garland C. Hall III, attorney, Decatur, Kathryn Hall Taylor, clinical psychologist, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Robert B. Hall, M.D. family physician, Moulton, Lelia Ann Hall Tassin, pharmaceutical sales, Muscle Shoals, and Allen W. Hall, machinist, Athens; four grandchildren, Jacob Hall Taylor, Cpl. USMC Infantry, served two tours in Iraq. Matthew Boyd Taylor, student MTSU, Hannah Cooper Hall, student at Auburn University and Zachary Clifton Taylor; one sister Ann Johnson.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Elliott Funeral Home. The family has requested a private graveside service at Moulton Memory Gardens.
