Gayno was born October 18, 1931, to William Gant and Geneva Jackson McKelvey. He lived his entire life in Moulton, impacting untold lives for God's glory. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. His full and rewarding life included his love for Jesus, his family, and his church family. He was a Baptist deacon and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He worked in management at Monsanto for 33 years.
Gayno was blessed as a star athlete, and he used sports as a channel to build relationships and character in others, including his children, grandchildren, and all the community teams he coached through the years. A product of this was him being inducted into the Lawrence County Sports Hall of Fame.
Golfing, fishing, and quail hunting were also outlets for Gayno's enjoyment of life with family and friends. His positive attitude was infectious, always encouraging and inspiring others to be their best! Though missed, his influence will endure!
Gayno died March 3 at Lawrence Medical Hospital. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Windell. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Lang McKelvey; two sons, Paul Dunn (Tina) and David William (Rachel); three grandsons, Paul, Kevin and Will; three granddaughters, Anna, Marjie and Amy; and one brother, Farrell.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers; honorary pallbearers include Billy Rains, Billy Warren Shelton, Mike Johnson, Jimmy Mitchell and The Coffee Drinkers. The family expresses special appreciation to Dr. Charles Coffee, the nurses at LMH, and the host of friends who have visited, prayed and provided support.
