Funeral for Gene Whisenant, 64, of Decatur will be today, June 6, 2008, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dallas Culver officiating and Ridout's BrownService Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The family will also receive visitors in the church fellowship hall from 5 to 7 following the private graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Whisenant, who died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at Huntsville Hospital, was born Nov. 20, 1943, in Lawrence County to Glenn and Agnes Whisenant. He worked at Monsanto and Wolverine Tube until his retirement. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Linda Williams Whisenant; one son, Shane Whisenant and wife, Samantha; two daughters, Sherry Whisenant Fanning and husband, John, and Dawn Whisenant Daniel and husband, Anthony; one sister, JoAnn Crump and husband, Bill; and five grandsons. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 100 Chase Parkway South, Suite 220, Birmingham, AL 35244.
