Obituary

Rev. George Edward Bracey, 86, of Rogersville died Thursday, February 16, 2012. Visitation will be Sunday, February 19, 2012, 1-3 PM at Center Star United Methodist Church. Funeral services will follow with Rev. Tommy Heap and Bro. Tommy James officiating. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery. Rev. Bracey was born June 6, 1925 in Florence, Alabama to George Lee and Maggie Beasley Bracey.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Belle Summers Bracey; three daughters, Sherry Taylor and husband Ned of Athens, Alabama, Rautha Harvey and husband David of Rogersville, Alabama, and Jan Love of Town Creek, Alabama; three sons, Shawn Bracey of Rogersville, Alabama, Shane Bracey and wife Connie of Florence, Alabama, and Shannon Bracey and wife Linda of Florence, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Angie Taylor, Staci Hill, Neal Harvey, Shea Harvey, Matt Burrows, Ashley Davis, Tyler Love, Raven Bracey,and Taylor Bracey; thirteen great-grandchildren, Seth Myrick, Justin Hill, McKenzey Harvey, McKayla Harvey, Dakota Burrows, Hannah Bell Burrows, Ethan Burrows, Kaison Burrows, Treven Davis, Olivia Davis, Brandon Love, and Gage Love; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Maggie Bracey; brother, Harry Lee Bracey; great-grandson, Dakota Hill. Rev. Bracey was a retired Methodist minister, he pastored churches in North Alabama, retired from TVA Browns-Ferry. He graduated from Emory University in Georgia and received a Master Degree after attending the New York Institute of Photography in New York City. George served in World War II as a Marine.
