Obituary

Geraldine "Billye" Haraway White, aged 90, passed away Oct. 24, 2011. She was a life long resident of Lauderdale County and member of Old Mt. Bethel Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she taught youth Sunday School classes for many years. She was retired from a long career at Florence Utilities and enjoyed gardening.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold Benton White, parents Moses H and Justin Williams McCain Haraway, brothers M. Newton and Braxton C. Haraway, sisters Edith Prince, Ernestine Hannah and Eldred Whitehead, and nieces Linda H. Springer and Cassandra Hannah. She is survived by one brother, Edward Belue Haraway of Rogersville, one step daughter Connie White Steen of Florence, 2 step granddaughters and nieces and nephews: Rebecca H. Butler and Harris O. Haraway, Brunswick, GA, Elizabeth W. Kimsey, Pinehurst, NC, Roberta H. Mann, Talahassee, FL, James L. Whitehead, Jr., Montgomery, AL, Carolyn H. Stepehens, Huntsville, AL, Arlene H. Elrod, Brownsboro, AL, Turner A. Hannah and Ronnie B. Haraway, Rogersville, AL.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Elkins East Funeral Home with funeral services immediately thereafter in the Chapel with the Rev. Terry Herston officiating. Burial will follow in Ingram-Thornton Cemetery, Serving as pallbearers will be Turner A. Hannah, James Whitehead, Neal Stepehens, David Mann, David Elrod and Ronnie Haraway.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made Ingram Thornton Cemetery Fund. The family expresses their gratitude to Hospice of North Alabama for their extended hands in the care of "Billye" during her sickness and death.
