Gertrude "Mama Gert" Hester's Obituary
Gertrude "Mama Gert" Hester, 101, of Center Star passed away on Monday, February 01, 2016 in Madison. Her visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Elkins East Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Center Star Cemetery.
Mama Gert was born on June 6, 1914 the middle child of Clark Parker and Edna Joiner Parker. She was a member of Elgin Church of Christ for 25 years and loved being outdoors, gardening and helping others.
She was preceded in death by five of her children, Charlotte, Billy, Martha, Jackie and Bobby.
Survivors include her daughters, Shelba Bach, Linda Dodson and Mary Pollard and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
