Gilbert "Danny" Roland Hill Jr. age 57 of Florence, passed on Sunday May 20, 2012. Visitation will be Tuesday night from 6pm till 8pm at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence. Services will be held on Wednesday May 23 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Elkins Funeral Home of Florence with Mark Marks and Phillip Marks officiating. Burial will be at Florence City Cemetery. Danny was retired from the Lauderdale County Sheriff Department after 30 years of service and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. He was survived by his wife Deborah Jean Hill. His father, Gilbert Roland Hill Sr. His son, Leslie Hill and wife Miranda of Florence. His daughter, Janie Burgess and husband Chris of Florence. And four grandchildren, Josh Keeton, Colby Burgess, Ava Hill and Addison Hill. Danny was preceded in death by his mother Susie Mae Hill. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Willis, Junior Witt, David Ray, Richard Richey, Kent Sims, and Jessie Shanes. Honorary pallbearer will by JoJo Shanes. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Lyman Mitchell and the ICU staff at ECM.
