Gilbert Delonie Gibson, 76, of Rogersville died Sunday, September 11, 2016, at his residence.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016, at Elkins East Chapel from 5-9 PM. Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Elkins East Chapel 11 AM. Burial will be at Hurricane Cemetery.
Mr. Gibson attended Anderson Jr. High School and Lauderdale County High School. He was well loved and thought highly of with everyone in the community. He was a very upstanding citizen who helped anyone in need. And he never met a stranger. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a very upstanding God Loving Christian. He loved fishing, hunting, mowing, watching westers, and most of all spending time with his family.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his parents, Louis B. "Duck" and Evie Lou Gibson; sister, Dorothy Mae Madry; Baby Boy Gibson (Brother); Baby Girl Gibson (Sister); Great-Granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann England; Sister-in-law, Nancy Gibson; Granddaughter-in-law, Latonya S. Mance.
Mr. Gibson is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Linda Joyce Gibson; children, Timmy and Carolyn Gibson, Lisa and Jeffery Townsend, Gilbert Delonie "Fatty" Gibson, Jr., Michelle and Bobby Simbeck, and Jerry and Stacy Gibson; 12 Grandchildren, Jonathan Gibson, Valerie and Daniel Gibson, Jamie and Elizabeth Goodwin, Kimberly England, Andy Gibson, Kristal and Tommy Goodloe, Kelly Pigg, Justin and Kristin Townsend, Amy and Zach Simbeck, Maria Gibson, Madlyn Gibson, and Maia Gibson; 11 Great-Grandchildren, Eriel Gibson, Ethan Gibson, Gabriel Goodwin, Tyler Lovell, Chelsea Lovell, Mea Goodloe, Andrew England, Austin Gibson, Liam Townsend, Devan Gordan, and Austin Pigg ; 8 sisters and brothers, Horace Gibson, David Gibson, Joyce and Boyd Alread, Reba and Bobby Haggermaker, Billy and Martha Gibson, Linda and David Meeks, Mary and Johnny Howard, and Charles and Teresa Gibson; several loving nieces and nephews; one loving dog "Rosco"; special friends, Ray Bates, Linda Chambers, and Patricia Goodloe; several "adopted" children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Gibson, Gilbert D. Gibson, Jr., Jerry Gibson, Jonathan Gibson, Justin Townsend, and Andy Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Simbeck and Tommy Moore.
