Funeral for Grace Evett Potter Murphy, 84, of Decatur will be Saturday, July 10, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Scottsboro. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Murphy, who died Wednesday, July 7, 2010, was born March 28, 1926,
in Jackson County to Levi and Orilla Evett. She was a member of Chapel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Otis Loyd Potter Sr., and Charles Amos Murphy; five brothers, Claude and Grady of Scottsboro, Bill of Dothan, Franklin of Decatur and Levi of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Ida Adams of Broken Arrow, Okla. She is survived by one sister, Rachel Shrader of Scottsboro; four sons, Loyd Potter and wife, Dean, of Decatur, Bruce Potter and wife, Dorothy, of Danville, Paul Glenn Potter of Hartselle and Lane Potter of Decatur; one daughter-in-law, Pam Potter of Decatur; 11 grandchildren, Leigh Potter, Kevin Potter, Beau Potter, Justin Potter, Preston Potter, Whitlee Potter, Jessica Potter McGhee, Trent Potter, Thomas Russell, Rachel Potter, Otis Potter and Mike Potter; five great-grandchildren, Jaxon Potter, Kamryn Potter, Gracie McGhee, Brennon Potter and Xander Potter.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
