Funeral for Grady Thornton, 84, of Decatur will be Friday, April 20, 2007, at 11 a.m. at First Bible Church with Pastor Steve Bateman officiating and Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The body will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Thornton, who died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, was born Feb. 16, 1923, in Limestone County to William G. Thornton and Ola Nitchell Thornton. He worked at Decatur General Hospital and Athens-Limestone Hospital as an LPN nursing service. Survivors include his wife, Virginia S. Thornton; five sons, Danny Thornton and Steve Thornton, both of Athens, Phil Corn of Houston, Texas, James R. Corn of Ponca City, Okla., and Tim Corn of Decatur; two daughters, Teresa Moss and Jennifer Murphy, both of Athens; one brother, James Thornton of Athens; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be friends and family. Memorials may be made to Central America Missions
