Funeral for Harold James Hazard, 78, of Huntsville will be Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home in Decatur. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Hazard, who died Saturday, July 17, 2010, was born January 1, 1932, in Decatur to Harold A. and Tracyne Thompson Hazard. He was retired from the U.S. Army after almost 25 years of faithful service. He achieved the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW2) and served two tours in Vietnam. Mr. Hazard was awarded the Army Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Medal, and various other citations during his service. He also served two years as an Airman First Class in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Hazard; four daughters, Wendy O'Bryan of Hattiesburg, Miss., Tracy Moore (Richard) of Tampa, Fla., Donna Alexander (Mike) of Hamilton, and Vicky Crew Fuller of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two stepsons, Michael Lockwood of Decatur and Tom Lockwood of Philadelphia, Pa.; five grandchildren, Candace Szopa of Tampa, Fla., Michael Mason of Live Oak, Fla., Maria Lance of Tampa, Fla., Amber O'Bryan and Jennifer O'Bryan, both of Wetumpka; and one great-grandchild, Ollie Mason.
Pallbearers will be military pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the USO or to the Wounded Warrior Fund.
