Harold G. Peck, 73, of Florence, died Tuesday after a twenty year battle with heart disease.
A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends in the chapel one hour before the service.
Mr. Peck grew up in Killen, Alabama and then moved to Ohio graduating from Macomber High School in Toledo. After graduation he returned to Killen and graduated from Florence State College (now the University of North Alabama) and Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama.
Mr. Peck practiced law in Florence, Alabama for 46 years. He also served as Municipal Judge in Florence. He was a member of numerous legal associations, many civic organizations and part of many community service projects.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman W. Peck and Ruby Joiner Peck. He will be missed, remembered and loved by his wife of 29 years, Frances Hayley Peck. He is also survived by his daughter, Brenda Peck Massey and her husband Joseph P. of Florence, his sons Douglas E. Peck and his wife Sandy of Oviedo, Florida, and Preston H. Peck of Rome,Georgia. Mr. Peck''s much loved grandchildren include Josh Murks of Florence and Danielle and Kyle Peck of Oviedo, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the church or charity of your choice.
