Obituary

Hattie Bowen Gatlin, 88, of Killen, Alabama passed away July 9, 2026.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 11, 2026, 11 AM to 12 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 12 PM in the chapel with Bro. Todd Walton officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by husband, Wayne Gatlin, brothers, George & Jack Bowen, sisters, Dorothy & Virginia Bowen, and Kathryn Ferguson.

Hattie was born on January 26, 1938, to George & Jessie Bowen. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Russellville High School. She proudly attended Auburn University and never missed a chance to shout, “War Eagle!”

During her life, she was generous in spirit and kind of heart. She took pride in her grandchildren and devoted much of her time, energy, and love to them.

She is survived by her son, Lee Gatlin, daughters, Ginger Gatlin (Rodney) and April Grissom (Brad), grandchildren, Abby & Andrew Grissom, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Brad Grissom, Andrew Grissom, Rodney Stutts, Gage Stutts, Matt Gatlin, and Tanner Gatlin.

Special thanks to Columbia Cottage, Enhabit Hospice, Dr. Ty Ashley, ICU staff and 5th floor at North Alabama Medical Center.
