Helen Irene Salter, 79, of Florence died Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at ECM Hospital. Visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2011, from 6-8PM at Elkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 8, 2011, 11AM at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, on River Road in Muscle Shoals, and will lie in state from 10-11AM, with Bro. Bryan McIntyre officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Richie; daughter, Shelia Richie; two brothers, Gilbert Nelms and Stanley Nelms. Mrs. Salter is survived by her three daughters, Sharon Hyde of South Carolina, Angelia Richie and Gina Hall both of Florence; one son, Michael Richie of Muscle Shoals; nine grandchildren, Samantha Bolden, Scott Scogin (Mandy), Ben Richie, Erin Richie, Jake Hall, Josh Hall, Michael Simpson, Levi Hall, and Janie Hall; six great-grandchildren; sister, Jewel Brown; brother, Wade Nelms. Pallbearers will be Scott Scogin, Ben Richie, Jake Hall, Josh Hall, Levi Hall, Michael Simpson, and Brad Bolden.
