Helen Marie West Ayers, 83, of Florence passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at ECM Hospital. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. on Wednesday with Bro. Donnie McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Cemetery.

Mrs. Ayers graduated from Hackleburg High School where she was a cheerleader. She retired from Sears; she was a member of the Underwood Baptist Church and she enjoyed playing bridge.

Survivors include her sons, Larry W. Ayers (Donna) and Brett Ayers (Laura); granddaughter, JoAnna Steinke (Jesse); son-in-law, Del Mayfield; sisters, Virginia Crawford (Allen), Mildred Kennedy, and JoAnna Cathey (Lynn); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry W. Ayers; daughter, Carol A. Mayfield; brothers, Edison and Donald (Juanita) West; parents, Cap and Ada West; and brother-in-law, Jerold Kennedy.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Lyman Mitchell and his staff.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Underwood Baptist Church or the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Fund.
