Helen Frances Neely White, age 98 of Florence, died peacefully on March 31, 2015. Visitation will be Saturday, April 4, 2015 from 9:30 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Florence. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Richard T. Gillespie and the Rev. Brandon Miles officiating. Interment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.
She was born on February 2, 1917 and grew up in Fairfield, PA (outside of Gettysburg) as one of eight children. She left to serve with the Public Health Department as an x-ray technician during WWII. Helen met and married Soloman A. White, Jr. during the war and moved to Florence, AL where she lived until her death.
Survivors include son, Donald A. White, Florence, AL; grandsons, Andrew F. White and David T. White, both of Franklin, TN; sister, Hannah Neely Teeter, Gettysburg, PA; three nieces and eight nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; two brothers; husband, Soloman A. White, Jr. and son, Mart S. White, both of Florence, AL.
Helen will be remembered for her quick wit and sense of humor. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a good friend to all that knew her.
Pallbearers will be Andrew White, David White, Bob Teeter, Tom Frith, Andy Frith and Danny Barton.
