Funeral for Hollis L. Sledge, 77, of Decatur will be Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Ridout's BrownService Funeral Home with Evangelist Bob Hutto officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Cullman. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Sledge, who died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, was born Feb. 19, 1931, in Lauderdale County to Joseph Sledge and Maude Lovell Sledge. He was the youngest of nine children. He was retired from ConAgra Inc., after 40 years of service. He was well liked by everyone he met and was especially loved by his grandchildren, who will miss him greatly. Survivors include his wife, Mary Sledge; one son, Frank L. Sledge, and wife, Emily, of Calera; one brother, Otis Sledge, and wife, Florence, of Ardmore, Tenn.; one sister, Elaine Cox of Decatur; and four grandchildren, Ben, Doug, Dan and Laura Beth Sledge, all of Calera. Pallbearers will be family members.
