Mrs. Irene Willingham Christensen, of Florence, passed away unexpectedly at E.C.M. Hospital on Thursday, February 18, 2010.
The funeral service will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel on Hermitage Drive in Florence. The Rev. Dr. Carl Gebhardt of The First Christian Church, Florence, will officiate. Burial will follow in Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Christensen was the Innkeeper for twenty-five years of the Holiday Inns both in Florence and Muscle Shoals. She enjoyed traveling in our country and internationally. She made friends wherever she went. Many people will remember her from Nancy''s Tours, Goodtime Travel, and as a "regular" at Cracker Barrel.
She was preceded in death by sons Michael Edward Christensen and Henry Valentine Christensen, Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Judge Patti Ann Christensen, St. Augustine, Florida; sister, Dorothy Wells, Dyersburg, Tennessee; nephew, Tommy Wells, Dyersburg, Tennessee and great-nephew, Brandon Wells, Birmingham, Alabama; and numerous cousins. She also leaves behind a large extended family of dear friends. All of us will greatly miss Irene''s humor, kindness and generosity.
