Irene Stisher Gilley Moulton
Irene Stisher Gilley, 90, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, died October 15, 2010. She was born January 15, 1920, in Cullman County, Alabama to Milford Watson and Daisy Crumbley Stisher. Mrs. Gilley was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, James Hershel Gilley, and her son, Glen E. Gilley.
Funeral services will be held at Moulton Baptist Church on Monday, October 18, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Dr. Darryl Wood and Dr. Jesse Reeder officiating. Burial will follow at Moulton Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church today from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Mrs. Gilley graduated from Holly Pond High School and attended Florence State Teacher's College. She taught in elementary education while her husband was serving in World War II. In 1953, she and her family moved to Moulton and acquired the International Harvester dealership. Active in the church, Mrs. Gilley served as a Sunday School Teacher and was honored for 40 years service to the children of Moulton Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Radiance Garden Club.
Mrs. Gilley is survived by her three sons; Larry and his wife, Francis, Keith and his wife, Shirley, and Kent and his wife, Carmen; seven grandchildren, Paige Childers, Blaine Gilley and his wife ,Donna, Brent Gilley and his wife, Tammy, Laura Jones and her husband, Chris, April Jennings and her husband, Josh, Ryan and Tate Gilley; six great-grandchildren, Nicole Childers, Conner and Ashley Jones, Colin and Cade Gilley, and Allie Jennings; and two sisters, Eloise Stevens and Naomi Betterton.
Pallbearers will be Blaine, Brent, Ryan, and Tate Gilley, Chris Jones and Josh Jennings.
