Mrs. Irene Spencer, 93, died January 18, 2019 at Florence Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 12 PM in the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel on Hermitage Drive, Florence, AL with the Reverend Chris Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Elkins.

Irene was born November 28, 1925 in Winchester, Tennessee to Nora Ann Riddle Crabtree and Buford Crabtree and moved with her mother to Florence in 1938. She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Hollan Danley Spencer, her mother, father and sister Naomi Owens. Irene was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church for eighty years and volunteered to helped with Sunday School records for 23 years. She was retired form Lauderdale County Abstract Company, where she worked for over 40 years.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by her son, Gary Spencer and wife Kathleen of Hoover, AL; grandchildren Gary Chandler Spencer and wife Kirsten of Raleigh, NC and their children, Vivian and Jackson; Nora and Taylor Banks of Hoover, AL and their children, Morris and Lucy; Hope and Kyle Gibson of Vestavia, AL and their children, Harrison and Campbell; and Maggie Spencer of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by her brother, Douglas and his wife Shirley Crabtree of Hamilton, AL.

Pallbearers will include: Bobby Crabtree, Darryl Crabtree, Darryl Spencer, Kyle Gibson, Taylor Banks & Linden Reeder

The Spencer family would like to give a special thanks to Neal Cross and wife Ann, other family and friends as well as Dr. Danny McFall for their loving kindness, prayers and support. Expressions of sympathy may be made in memory of Irene Spencer to her beloved Highland Baptist Church.
