J. T. Taylor age 88 of Rogersville passed on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Florence Rehab and nursing home. Visitation will be Friday October 7, 2011 from 12:30 till 2:00pm at Elkins East Chapel in Center Star. Services will follow at 2:00pm in the Chapel with Rev Martha Hauer officiating. Burial will be at Butler Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be nephews and brothers in law. J.T. was born in Mooreville, MS to Dewey and Eula Whitesides Taylor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Elgin. He served in the U.S. Navy during and after World War II. He trained as a machinist and worked in Oak Ridge, TN where he met and married Louise Tate who grew up in Lauderdale County. Upon his retirement, J.T. and Louise moved from Oak Ridge to Mooreville, MS to care for his elderly parents. After their death, they moved to Elgin to be near Louise''s relatives. Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his wife Louise. He was survived by a brother, Leo Taylor of Knoxville, Tn. A sister, Frances Franks of Memphis, TN. Nephew Tommy Franks (Sara) of Huntsville. Brothers in law Paul Tate, Horace Tate (Judy), Donald Tate (Scarlett Brooks), and Bobby Tate (Judy). Sisters in law, Freddie Mae Sledge (Fred), Shirley Pugh (John), and Martha Luncford; Special nieces Debra Luncford and Myra Belue and several other Tate nieces and nephews.
