March 22, 1942 – February 2, 2024
James Coleman Beavers, 81, of Rogersville died Friday, February 2, 2024, at Madison Hospital. The family would like to thank the kind staff for their excellent care and compassion.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 12-2 PM at Elkins East Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2 PM in the chapel with Jerry Marlow officiating. Burial will be at Barnett Cemetery.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Zadie Beavers; and brother, Gene Beavers (Willie T.).
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Merle Holden Beavers; children, Jamie Allen (Randy), Brent Beavers (Lesley), and Austin Gerald Newton, Jr. (Tonya); grandchildren, Kaile Allen, Jaren Allen, Regan Beavers, Ryan Beavers, Ansley Crowden (Will), and Holden Newton (Cassie); great-grandchildren, Lincoln and Liam Crowden; sisters, Linda Beavers and Sherri Spires; and numerous nieces & nephews.
James had a love of music which lasted almost his entire lifetime. He was a member of many gospel and bluegrass bands. He served his community as a founding member of the Eligin Volunteer Fire Department and owner of Elgin Foreign Car Repair. Most importantly he loved God and his family. He will be dearly missed, but we all know he is praising God in Heaven at this very moment.
