Obituary

James Simpson Coburn, 82 of Columbus,MS formally of Florence passed away Saturday, July 5,2008.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 8,2008 at 10:00 a.m. at College View Church of Christ. Lowell Blankinship of Athens, AL, Harold Comer, of Vestavia, AL and Mark White of Florence will be officiating. Congregational Singing will be led by Steve Coburn, Sr. Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday night at the funeral home from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Mr. Coburn was a life long resident of Florence, AL. And a member of College View Church of Christ, where he served as Song Leader. Starting at the age of 12, Mr. Coburn led singing at Congregations all over North Alabama. He was a World War II Naval Veteran and a retired employee of Brown Teledyne Engineering in Huntsville, AL. In his free-time he enjoyed baking cakes and talking on his CB Radio, going by the name "Songman" He was preceded in death by his wife Mae Louise (busler) Coburn,parents Louis D. and Cynthia (James) Coburn, and his oldest son James Barry Coburn.
He is survived by his wife Ola Mae Walker, sons Steve Coburn Sr,and wife LaNette of Columbus,MS. John Coburn and wife Sylvia, of Round Rock, Tx. Daughter Lynn Mignon "Nonnie" Martin and husband John Poris, of Panama, City, FL. Step-daughters, Joan Naramore and husband Danny of Florence, AL, Peggy Hale and husband Gene, of Chattanooga,TN, and Nancy Goss and Richard of Iuka,MS step-son John Walker and wife Susan of Florence,AL, five grandsons, one granddaughter, five step grandsons, and three step granddaughters, two great-granddaughters and four step great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steve Coburn, Jr. Scott Coburn, James M. (Jamie) Coburn, Ryan Coburn, Lewis Mitchell, Aubrey Belue and David Holden. Honorary are Elders of College View Church of Christ.
