Dr. James "Jim" Gibbs Middleton age 92 of Florence passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016. Visitation will be Thursday evening, February 18, from 5:00 P.M until 8:00 P.M. Services will be held in the chapel of Elkins Funeral Home of Florence on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. With Brian Giselback officiating. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens.

He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Sibley and husband Danny and his son Gregory A. Shields.

Jim is a member of Wood Avenue Church of Christ. He went to West Minister college school of Pre-Med and graduated from Medical School at Vanderbilt University. He worked for over 50 years in pediatrics at the Florence Clinic. He touched many lives and after retirement, continued working with the Colbert County Health Dept. Jim has been described as an avid outdoorsman. He loved the Great Smokey Mountains. Hiking, hunting, fishing and just about anything that would get him into the outdoors. He is dearly beloved by family and to many in the shoals area whose lives he touched.
