Funeral for James Hollis Long, 86, of Neel will be Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Mason, the Rev. Mason Booth and James Arthur Long officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. Mr. Long, who died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Lawrence County to James Marvin and Mae Kirby Long. He was a United States Veteran of World War II. He retired from Monsanto. He helped organize rural volunteer fire departments and many other community activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Randall Arthur Long. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruth McDonald Long; sons, James Roger Long and wife, Rita, and Earl Lynn and wife, Diane, all of Neel; brother, Don Long of Neel; six grandchildren, James, Jonathon, Rodney, Melanie S., Melanie D. and Melissa; and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be James Long, Rodney Long, Kevin Long, Curt Long, Ken Kirby, Rick Sherman and Allen Osborn. Honorary pallbearer will be Jonathon Long. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Socie-ty, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
