James Ira Beavers, 97, of Florence died Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Keystone Assisted Living.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 8, 2016, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Elkins Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM in the chapel with Ken Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Beavers was a native of Lauderdale County. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post #11. He retired from Garnet Electric after 32 years and was a member of IBEW Local #558 since 1947. He was a member of Helton Drive church of Christ.

Mr. Beavers was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Irene Williams Beavers; two sons, Gary Thomas Beavers and James Ira Beavers, Jr.; parents, James Jacob Beavers and Ethel Johnson Beavers; sister, Elizabeth Beavers Hamner.

Mr. Beavers is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Beavers Foster (Thomas); grandchildren, Kimberly Foster Drum (Lex), Lynn Foster Cogburn (Pat), and Mary Elizabeth Foster Borden (Kevin); great-grandchildren, Mary Margaret Borden, Ted Borden, and Elizabeth Claire Borden.

Pallbearers will be Steve Condra, Kevin Borden, Ted Borden, Pat Cogburn, Lex Drum, and Douglas Hamner.
