Funeral for James B. "J.B." Snider, 88, of Decatur will be Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. David Rollins officiating and Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Decatur Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Mr. Snider, who died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at his residence, was born May 23, 1919, in Docena, Ala., to Bessie and Roy Snider. He was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Army with Company M, 14th Infantry, 71st Division and a graduate of the University of Alabama. He retired from Wolverine Tube after 33 years in 1982. He was a volunteer for the Morgan County Mental Health Association and Decatur General Hospital. He was a member of the Decatur Lions Club, Decatur Jaycees, Stocks A Million Investment Club, Lake Guntersville Yacht Club and Wheeler Lake Yacht Club. Mr. Snider was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed traveling, boating, walking, swimming, investment counseling and line dancing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ethel Snider; and his son, Thomas Edwin Snider. Survivors include one son, Brian Snider (Mimi) of Fairhope; one daughter, Jennifer Leathers (Raymond) of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister, Patricia Mathews (Sidney) of Dora; and three grandchildren, Emily Snider of Springfield, Ill., Bradley Leathers of Minneapolis, Minn., and Frances Leathers of Okinawa, Japan. The family would especially like to thank special caregiver Marie Smith, special friend Edna Smith and many caring friends and family for their kindness.
