James Hollis Lynn, 96, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Floyd E. "Tut" Fann Veterans Home in Huntsville. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. A memorial service for friends and family will be at Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Mike Cagle will officiate. Visitation will be following the memorial service.
Mr. Lynn was an Elder at the Beltline Church of Christ for 31 years. He owned and operated Specialty Machine Shop in Decatur and was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran, assigned to the USS Card aircraft carrier, with service in the North Atlantic and in the Pacific. Burial will be with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Seyborne and Donna Moody Lynn and four sisters, Mamie Smith, Lacey Sims, Gladys McCravy and Nita Teague.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Marguerite Cummings Lynn; two sons, Larry Lynn (Sue) of Florence and Gary Lynn (Peggy) of Asheville, North Carolina; three granddaughters, Marnie Tabor (Ken) of Decatur, Christy Lynn-Armstrong (Tyler) of Florence and Erin Hill (Mitch) of Toney; great-grandchildren are Sierra Tabor, Caitlyn Westbrook (Casey), Amy Carol Daniels (Josh), Griffin Hill and Bennett Hill.
