Funeral for James W. "PaddleFoot" Sherrill, 66, of Decatur will be Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at 4 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with Ed Drake giving the eulogy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Mr. Sherrill, who died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Parkway Medical Center, was born July 12, 1942, in Lawrence County to Paul and Lucille Sherrill. He retired as Captain with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department, working with four different sheriffs. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 4185, F.O.P. No. 46 and B.P.O.E. No. 655. Survivors include his best friend, Myra Yates; two sisters, Judy Holt and Tammy Lewis and husband, Eddie; two nieces, Paula and Jessie; one nephew, Steve; and one great-nephew, Jordan. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rodney Harney.
