James Arlon Putman, age 75, passed away at his residence on Saturday August 9, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Monday August 11, 2008 at 2 pm at Elkins East Chapel with Jim Cox and Jeff Putman officiating. Burial will follow in Barkley Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday August 10, 2008 from 6 pm until 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Putman is preceded in death by his father, Clayton Elsie Putman, one brother, Royce Earl Putman, and one sister, Linda Gayle Putman. He loved horses and won many trophies from horse shows he competed in. Mr. Putman gave all his trophies to the little kids.
Mr. Putman is survived by his wife, Willie T. Putman of Rogersville; daughters, Jackie Varnell and husband Danny, Margaret Sewell and husband Kenneth, Judy Newbury and husband Randy, Connie Walker and husband Johnny, Arlene Liverett and husband Steve, and Rebecca Bailes and husband Jimmy; sons, James Putman and wife Peggy, and Danny Wayne Putman and wife Beverly; his mother, Ruthie Mae Putman; sisters, Lois Cole and husband Leonard, Shirley Higginbotham, Glenda Mae Albrooks, Betty Jo Cottles, Barbara Kaye Tyler and husband Larry, and Janice Gooch and husband Ronnie; brothers, Randall Putman, and Jerry Wayne Putman and wife Katherine Sue; 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
The family would like to give a special thanks to special friends Rueben Watkins, Johnny Morris, and Lewis Trousdale, as well as E.C.M. Hospital, Hospice of the Shoals, and Shoals Hospital, especially to nurses Barbara, Norma, and Kathy.
