James "Jim" Robert Heaps, Jr., age 62, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, after a brief illness. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, was retired from 3M Company, and was an avid Auburn fan.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 14, 2016, from 11 AM to 12 PM at Elkins East Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 12 PM in the chapel with Bro. Stan Dean officiating. Burial will be at Richardson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Heaps was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Heaps, Sr., and sister, Lila Faye Kitchens.
Mr. Heaps is survived by his loving wife, Laura Hamner Heaps; mother, Iler Faye Heaps; son, Jared Heaps (Veronica); daughters, Misty McGee (Corey), Kelsey Thigpen (Justin), and Jessica Mays; sister, Linda Hale (Doug); brother-in-law, Cecil Edwin Kitchens; grandchildren, Autumn and Izac McGee, Allena Hernandez, and Kristov Neil; son-in-law to George and Carolyn Hamner.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
