James Lendon "Sleepy" Springer age 76 of Lexington, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Elkins East Chapel from 12 Noon till 2:00 P.M. Services will follow at 2:00 P.M in the chapel with Jeff Cruse and Terry Herston officiating. Burial will be at Nebo Cemetery.

He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Springer and father James Springer and a sister, Barbara Vigil.

Lendon is survived by his wife of 56 years Frances Springer; several nieces and nephews and a special great niece, Elli McKay Key.

He graduated from Lauderdale County High School and served our nation earning the National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter and Expert (rifle M-16) awards, commendations and medals.
Lendon had a love for life and lived every day to the fullest. Over the years, he had many interests from motorcycles and baseball earlier in life to later interests like antique cars and NASCAR. Lendon loved to go to car shows with his wife and watch his niece Elli play softball. Lendon had a sense of humor like no other and could spin tales for hours. He was known in his family for his favorite phrase "you know what I mean". Lendon was quick witted, fun, and lived with no regrets. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. As a final ode to his uniqueness, he waited to pass on his birthday, exactly 76 years later.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Sharp, David Key, Scott Williams, Charlie Beavers, Chris Corum and Tim Corum.
