James (Jim) "Buddy" Sterling Sledge Jr., age 90 of Florence passed away on Wednesday February 18, 2015. Visitation will be Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence between Noon and 2:00 P.M. Services will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Rev Sam Hardie officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Patsy Ruth Wheeler Sledge.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Lisa Thompson (Todd). Three sons, James "Jim" Sterling Sledge III, Michael Sledge (Vicki) and John Sledge (Shelia). One sister, Ruth Beck. Eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. A special family friend, Cindy Richardson and his beloved cat "Punkin".

Mr. Sledge was in the Army Air Corp during World War II and stationed in Florida. He was a avid golfer and was a member at both the Florence Country Club and Blackberry Trail. He attended Edgemont Methodist Church and later Crosspoint Church of Christ.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the nursing staff and all involved on the 5th floor at ECM and Dr Morris and Dr. Irons. All of who shared great kindness, love and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Sledge''s name may be made to a Florence Animal Shelter.
