Funeral for James E. Townsend, 79, of Decatur will be Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stanley P. Clark officiating. Burial will be in Napps Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Mr. Townsend, who died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at Decatur General Hospital, was born July 2, 1929, in Morgan County to Rosco and Florence Townsend. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie O. Townsend; and one daughter, Barbara Townsend Seals. Survivors include one son, Ricky D. Townsend; four daughters, Judy Townsend Braswell, Linda Townsend Ledbetter, Debbie Townsend Wynn and Donna Townsend Spinder; one sister, Betty Townsend Widner; 16 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
