James "Wimp" Winford Ellis age 87 of Rogersville passed away Friday August 24, 2012. Visitation will be at Elkins East Chapel Saturday evening from 6-8pm. Services will be Sunday at 2pm at New Hope Baptist Church, lying in state from 1-2pm. Brother Wendell White and great grandson Phillip Collier will be officiating. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery with pallbearers being family and friends.
James was preceded by his wife Christine; a grandson Scottie Herston and a brother Bill.
He is survived by one son, Jimmy Ellis (Glendora). Two daughters, Ann Holden (Rick) and Brenda White (Michael). Three sisters, Tiny Mae, Lorene and Pearl. One brother, Alton. Three grandchildren. Seven great grandchildren. One great-great grandchild.
Mr. Ellis was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a deacon.
