James Logan Wood, 76, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at ECM Hospital following a brief illness.
The funeral service will be Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Elkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip Skipworth officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his parents John and Ola Wood, sisters Helen and Sue, and by brothers Frank and Stan. He enjoyed the outdoors all of his life.
He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Susan K. Wood; sons John W. Woods of Florence and James Robert Woods and wife Paula of Florence; sister Joan Kelley and husband Dale of Florence; brother Jack Woods and wife Edna of Waterloo; numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Wood was an honorary grandfather to Tony Lowry, Kelly and Tyler Canaday, and Zach Haas.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Woods, Robert Woods, Jackie Woods, Chris Benson, Tony Lowry and Zach Haas. Honorary bearers will be Eric Rose, Ricky Jackson and Eric Jackson.
