Jane Augusta Archer Harrison died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at her residence. Jane was born to Flora and Jewell Archer on June 28, 1931 in Gadsden, Al.
The Archer family moved to Albertville, then to Florence where her father operated Brown Service Funeral Home. The Florence Library is located on the site of the old Funeral home.
Jane graduated from Coffee High School, attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and graduated from the University of Alabama. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and helped found UNA chapter.
She was employed by the Times Daily for many years until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, the League of Women Voters and a volunteer for Safe Place.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Joe N. Archer. She is survived by abrother John N. Archer, her children, Katherine (Paul) Goebel, Lubbock, Texas, Elizabeth (Fehmi) Karahan, Dallas, Texas, Hudson (Jill) Harrison, Price (Cathy) Harrison, eight grandchildren, three nieces one nephew, six great-nieces and nphew
Visitation will be Saturday, January 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00.p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home followed by graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Greenview Cemetery. The Reverend Andrew Keyse officiating.
Pallbearers will be Luke Goebel, David Lewis, Dewey Mitchell III, Cliff Coldiron, Billy Roberson, and Clay Carter.
