Jeff was born in Florence, AL on August 10, 1961. He graduated from Central High School and received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Marketing from the University of North Alabama. Jeff was an inspiring writer at the Times Daily for more than 30 years. Jeff had a passion for sports. As the Assistant Sports Editor, Jeff's assignments included covering local high school athletics as well as the University of North Alabama athletics. He was a consummate professional who didn't know the meaning of "good enough." He wrote very well and worked extremely hard. He enjoyed every game he covered and was able to convey the quality of the athlete and the feeling, the excitement, of the event. His knowledge and views on baseball, basketball, football and other sports were always well respected. He just enjoyed "the game."
He was a loving son and a devoted husband, father and "PaPaw." Jeff was married to Liz Rhodes McIntyre on February 22, 1992; they were married for 27 wonderful years. Together they raised two wonderful sons, Matt and Derrick, who brought so much joy and love into his world. Wyatt and Luke, his two grandsons were the light of his life. Jeff's kind spirit, passion for sports, love for reading and writing and his zest for life will live on through them. Jeff was a kind and gentle person who valued his time with his family above anything else on this earth. Jeff blessed many with his amazing faith, strength and his unwavering testimony. He was a member of New Hope Church of Christ where he served as a deacon. Jeff embodied 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
