Obituary

Mr. Jesse Larimore Cabler, 90, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2008, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 7, 2008, at 3:00pm at Jacksonburg Church of Christ, with Bro. Garry Gooch and Rickard Dillon officiating. The casket will lie in state from 2 to 3pm. Burial will follow at Jacksonburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 5-8pm at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence.
Mr. Cabler was a longtime faithful member of Jacksonburg Church of Christ. For the past seven years he faithfully attended the Sunday worship service at Merrill Gardens, Florence. He was a wonderful Christian gentleman who will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called him "Papaw/Papa". Mr. Cabler was retired after 40 years as a crane operator at Reynolds Alloys.
He is preceded in death by his cherished and loving wife of 68 years Ena Madine Garrett Cabler; his beloved daughter, Sue Cabler Blanke; his parents, Boyd and Jimmie Lee Cabler; brother, Edward M. Cabler; sisters, Oma Calloway and Norma Jean Barnett.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his daughters, Judy Weatherbee and Jim of Burke, VA, Linda Quillen and Leon of Florence, Mary Nell Zabrisky and John of Killen, Sherry Terry and Stanley of Florence; sons, Jackie Cabler and Joy of Gardendale, AL, Kenny Cabler and Martha of Florence; sisters, Alma Brethrick of Florence; Nell ray and Bill of Florence; brother, Paul Cabler and Juanita of Florence; a sister-in-law, Mary Lee Cabler of Florence; grandchildren, Jim Weatherbee, Jr., Jeff Weatherbee, John Weatherbee, JoAnn Henriques, Cara Hargett, Lisa Chaney, Mitzi Jackson, Melanie Highland, Trina Ahonen, Jason Allen, Shane Thompson, Jeremy Odom, Rebecca Terry and Jessica Hopson; 21 great-grandchildren and many special nieces and nephews.
Mr. Cabler's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mike Mitchell, Dr. William Heaton, and the ER staff at ECM Hospital. We would also like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Merrill Gardens and all of his loving friends there for all their love and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in honor of Jesse be made to the Jacksonburg Church of Christ Building Fund, American Diabetes Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Heart Association.
