Graveside service for Jessie Hipp Dugger, age 101, of Decatur and Trinity will be Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 1:30 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Ridout's Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Ms. Dugger died Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Decatur Health and Rehabilitation. She was born Aug. 5, 1906, in Haleyville to Benjamin Lewis Hipp and Maude McGuire Hipp. The oldest of eight children, she was preceded in death by all but one, Eldred Baker, from Haleyville. She married Oscar Y. Dugger from Jasper. She worked as a seamstress for 30 or more years at Parisian and Carriage House of Decatur. She loved to work in her yard and lived by herself until she was 98 years old. Survivors include three daughters, Bobbie D. Thompson, Johnnie F. Dugger and Shelby J. Norton, all of Decatur; five grandchildren, Chuck Wiley of Toney, Michael Thompson of Decatur, Cynthia Norton of Huntsville, Tammy Norton of Decatur and Tim Norton of Huntsville; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
