Jewel Abbott, 84, died Monday, January 25th. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Abbott; son, Rick Abbott; her parents, George Harley and Dovie Griggs Whisenant; brother, Arnold Whisenant; and four sisters, Audrey Shannon, Francis Tucker, Esther Upchurch and Cornell Whisenant. She is survived by her son, Steve Abbott and his wife, Kay; grandsons, Clint Abbott, Blake Abbott and his wife, Larissa; and sister, Camilla Hanners of Duluth, Ga. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ridout''s Brown-Service Funeral Home. Service will follow in the chapel at 7 p.m. with Gary Patton officiating. A private graveside service will be held Friday morning. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Valley or the Alzheimer''s Association. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff members of The Terrace at Priceville and Riverside Senior Living for their devotion and care for our mother and grandmother.
